Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, backhoes, and related machinery, prioritizing precision and efficiency.
  • Execute advanced excavation tasks such as digging trenches for sewer lines, septic systems, site utilities, waterproofing, footings, and foundations.
  • Perform manual digging in confined spaces or for precise adjustments, working alongside laborers when machinery isn't suitable.
  • Interpret blueprints, site plans, grade stakes, and technical drawings to deliver work that meets or exceeds specifications.
  • Mentor and direct crew members on safe excavation techniques, equipment use, and best practices for property preservation.
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, including fluid checks, greasing, and immediate reporting of any maintenance needs.
  • Safeguard customer properties by carefully maneuvering equipment to minimize damage to lawns, sidewalks, driveways, and landscaping.
  • Maintain open communication with Foremen, Project Managers, and clients regarding project updates, potential issues, and upcoming phases.
Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience operating heavy equipment in residential or commercial excavation projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trenching for sewer, septic, utilities, footings, or foundations.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience hauling equipment using utility trailers.
  • Willingness to handle both machinery operation and physical labor as needed.
  • Valid driver's license required; Class A or B CDL preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA excavation standards and local utility marking protocols.
