About The PositionÂ
​​​​The Safety Intern (Ameren Safety) is responsible for providing support to Ameren business segments to assist in the reduction of injuries and illnesses with a focus on soft-tissue and ergonomic risk reduction. The intern will employ a variety of scientific techniques and problem solving skills to ensure that the design of systems, tasks, equipment and facilities provide the best level of health and safety for co-workers. ​​​Â

Key responsibilities include:Â
​​Analysis of soft tissue injury records to identify trends for targeted analysis and interventions.Â
​Analysis of the interaction between co-workers and machinery/equipment.Â
​Assessing the effect of work environments on co-workers.Â
​Identifying possible improvements and assisting with implementation.Â
​Offer information, advice and recommendations to Ameren Safety department.  Â
​Compiling and presenting professional information in reports and verballyÂ
​Liaising with other professionals in Ameren Safety, health specialists and designers.  Â
​Assisting in the investigation of soft tissue injuries and illnesses.​Â

QualificationsÂ
​​​​Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene or ergonomics in an accredited program required with a GPA of 2.5 or above..  Â
​Â
​The Safety Intern works a standard work week in an office and field environment. This position may require occasional overtime (evenings, weekends) that may involve overnight travel. This position may also be expected to provide support during outages, storms, or other emergencies as required which may require working extended hours, weekends and holidays.  A valid driver's license and vehicle is also required.  Â
​Â
​It is preferred the selected candidate reside in the St. Louis Metropolitan area or Missouri, Illinois and Iowa and be willing to travel.  Â

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:Â

​​​​Proficiency with MS Office preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills also required. Work with direct supervision and participate in a geographically dispersed team environment often requiring virtual meetings.  Working knowledge of OSHA and other regulatory agency standards required.  ​​​Â

We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the salary offered.
