Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures in commercial buildings. They work with a variety of materials and tools to complete carpentry projects according to specifications. Position will be required to work outside in all kinds of weather or in buildings without heating or air conditioning. Comprehensive understanding of the importance of jobsite safety is a must. Relocation for duration of project may be required.

  • Interpret and follow construction plans, diagrams, and blueprints to determine project requirements and specifications. 

  • Construct, install, and repair structural frameworks, including walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using wood and other materials. 

  • Install fixtures, cabinets, doors, windows, trim, and other finishing components to complete the interior and exterior of commercial buildings. 

  • Frame up interior partition walls with metal or wood studs, hang drywall per the project specifications. Must be able to layout walls per the project drawings. 

  • Fabricate and install customized components, such as cabinetry, shelving, and furniture, to meet client or project requirements. 

  • Install and repair doors, windows, hardware, drywall, insulation, and other building materials. 

  • Adhere to safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents. 

  • Maintain and care for carpentry tools, equipment, and materials to ensure optimal performance and longevity. 

  • Work closely with other construction professionals, such as project managers, architects, and subcontractors, to coordinate carpentry tasks with overall project requirements. 

  • Inspect finished structures and fixtures to ensure they meet quality standards and project specifications. 

 
Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience as a carpenter in commercial construction projects. 

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings. 

  • Knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials. 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

  • Willingness to teach apprentices 

  • Physical strength and stamina to handle the demands of carpentry work. Able to lift 75 lbs 

  • Attention to detail and precision in carpentry tasks. 

Education and/or Experience: There are no minimum educational requirements. Must at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or its equivalent. Two to Five plus years experience; no related degree preferred; equivalent combination of education or experience will be considered; OSHA 10/ OSHA 30 a plus.  Knowledgeable in construction means and methods.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret all construction related documents.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Lifting and/or Pushing minimum 40 lbs. - Regularly

  • Loud noise for extended periods - Regularly

  • Seeing: depth perception & color vision - Regularly

Working Conditions: The associate occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme heat, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
