Lead Project Engineer

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) - Phantom Works organization is seeking a talented Lead Project Engineer to join the Signature Integrity Software Team in Berkeley, MO as a Team Lead.

Signature Integrity is the ability to manufacture and maintain to an electro physics signature performance, evaluate defects, and provide signature status through signature management systems. A successful member of this team will lead project alignment and development of a system for production and champion integration into other digital systems and IT infrastructure.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides project leadership to a software development team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers

  • Works with customers and management to obtain approvals, develop implementation strategies, plans, and coordinates with the Signature Integrity Lead.

  • Participates in and responds to requirement changes from a Configuration Control Board, assesses the impact and negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules

  • Leads project to complete the work statement

  • Identify performance metrics, plans, identifies, and coordinates resources required over the life of the project

  • Defines plans for risk mitigation and opportunity

  • Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned

  • Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

  • Works under minimal direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Berkeley, MO.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or internationally depending on business needs.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

This position requires ability to obtain Special Program Access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Potential signing bonus for eligible/qualified external candidates.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering project planning or project management   

  • Ability to lead a team

  • Relevant experience with software, networks, or IT.

 Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience): 

  • Knowledge with the full life cycle process of software systems and development

  • Experience with engineering tool development & integration

  • Experience working with customers   

  • 2 years’ experience developing project execution plans, schedules, budgets, and risks

  • Basic experience utilizing digital tools such as JIRA, Gitlab, Confluence, etc for project management

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including interface and presentation skills to all levels of employees and Leadership

  • 1 year of technical writing experience in work, or internship(s)

  • Prior exposure to Agile framework, but not required

  • Prior knowledge of signature management processes or systems but not required.
