The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Software Engineer–Systems to support ourAir Proprietary 2 Mission Systems, Battlespace Picture teamlocated inBerkeley, Missouri.This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

Position Responsibilities:   

  • Lead end-to-end software design and delivery for the Battlespace Picture capability: architecture, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and system-level design.
  • Shape the Battlespace Picture roadmap and implement containerized, distributed solutions across diverse hardware.
  • Apply and extend Open Architecture constructs like OMS, OCS, and UCI; define subsystem boundaries and service contracts.
  • Integrate complex supplier components and lead software verification, testing, and integration activities to ensure requirements are met.
  • Drive software quality through technical leadership, metrics tracking, defect lifecycle management, and process adherence.
  • Plan and execute software R&D efforts; evaluate team/supplier performance and continuously improve delivery.
  • Mentor engineers, provide hands-on engineering leadership, and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Operate with minimal direction and own delivery across the software lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):  

  • 2+ years of experience leading software related projects or technical teams  

  • 7+ years of experience with embedded software architecture/development/design  

  • 7+ years of Professional experience with C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada    

 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):  

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. 

  • Experience with distributed and containerized software architecture  

  • Hands on experience developing on the Linux platform and Windows  

  • Experience developing and documenting software architecture using MSOSA, or similar Model Based Systems Engineering tools  

  • Experience with Open Architecture standards, such as OMS  

  • Experience with working in software development environments across a variety of security levels  

  • Experience developing mission systems software on aircraft platforms  

  • Experience with requirements, design, development, and test of software systems products  

  • Experience with DevSecOps and/or complex software build plans 

  • Experience working on an Agile team using Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira  

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance

Summary pay range for Senior Level (Level 4): $147,900 - $200,100
