Position Summary:聽

Position requires travel across the state, focusing on identified area of service. The Law Enforcement Trainer will lead the efforts of the Disarming Suicide Prevention Grant. The Disarming Suicide program is a program that provides suicide prevention training and support to Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) law enforcement and non-CIT law enforcement personnel throughout the state of Missouri. The Law Enforcement Trainer will provide training and care coordination for identified regions, including the implementation of a trigger lock program promoting safety in the community. This position requires travel across the state, focusing on identified area of service.


Essential Functions

路 Work collaboratively with CIT Council and regional police agencies to ensure that trainings are delivered across the state, with the fidelity that the program requires.

路 Will provide training and care coordination coverage for the St. Louis region.

路 Facilitate Firearms Safety and Suicide Prevention Training (trigger locks, keys, etc.) to all CIT academies and participating police departments within the Jefferson City Region.

路 Provide support as co-trainer (as requested) for academy/police department staff interested in becoming training facilitators.

路 Develop and implement the Trigger Lock Mail In program, providing onsite training and support to program participants.

路 Attend CIT Council meetings as an active member, working to foster supportive relationships with law enforcement agencies in the Jefferson City region.

路 Provide care coordination and follow-up services to local citizens participating in the Trigger Lock program.

路 Provide crisis intervention assistance and connect citizens to 988 services as needed, while maintaining contact and support until the crisis is resolved.

路 Perform various other duties and functions as required or assigned within area of expertise or scope of the position.


Education, Experience and Skills Preferred:

路 Bachelor鈥檚 Degree in related area (mental health, social work, counseling, training, business management, communications, education, etc.).

路 At least two years of experienced in related field required.

路 Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

路 Strong presentation skills.

路 Knowledge of adult learning principles and styles.

路 Adepts with a variety of multimedia training platforms and methods.

路 Ability to design and implement effective, suicide prevention-focused training.

路 Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related program software.

路 Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with various community partners and stakeholders.

路 Must work well as part of a team and have the ability to individually manage workload with results.

路 Committed to ongoing professional and educational development.

路 Participates in trainings, seminars, functions and events as needed.
