SUMMARY:  

The Relationship Banker not only handles all the responsibilities of a Teller but also focuses on building, maintaining, and enhancing customer relationships by delivering outstanding service. This role involves efficiently and accurately managing various account-related tasks, including opening, closing, and maintaining accounts and transactions. A deep understanding of the bank’s policies, procedures, and regulations for both consumer and business clients is essential. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned. 

  1. Keeps up-to-date with consumer and commercial depository products and services, and is able to clearly explain them to customers.
  2. Processes various in-branch financial transactions including cashing checks, accepting deposits and loan payments, negotiable instrument sales, savings bond redemptions, change orders and foreign currency in a timely manner.
  3. Balances Cash Recyclers, vault and coin machine.
  4. Upholds customer confidentiality in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
  5. Handles inbound and outbound calls with a goal of customer retention customer retention, expansion of their banking relationship with us and attracting new customers.
  6. Interacts with customer to provide information in response to inquiries about accounts, products and services.
  7. Identifies and closes cross-sell opportunities (consumer/commercial) in order to solicit sales of new or additional services or products and tracks correctly within the bank system.
  8. Directs customers to bank staff for the purchase or setup of specific products and services as needed.
  9. Opens, maintains, and/or closes checking and savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and safe deposit boxes, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements and bank policies.
  10. Provides secured access to safe deposit boxes, if applicable.
  1. May open and close the branch following proper procedures/policies.
  2. Demonstrates products or services and offers guidance on their optimal use.
  3. Performs data entry to maintain consumer and commercial customers information into the bank’s computer system.
  4. May process check orders, stop-payments, wire transfers, point of sale (POS) and automated teller machine (ATM) disputes.
  5. Certified to notarize documents.
  6. Works to ensure departmental compliance with BSA/AML/OFAC rules.
  7. Reports suspicious client and account activity.
  8. Develops and maintains positive relationships with Highland Bank customers and employees. 
  9. Assists other Highland Bank staff; performs other duties as apparent or as delegated by supervisor, in order to provide excellent customer and internal departments service
  10. Volunteer in local community events and In-Service Days that the bank sponsors. 
  11. May occasionally be requested to assist at other branch locations.
  12. Attends and completes all courses required by the bank to meet compliance standards and enhance job proficiency through understanding of product knowledge, policies, and procedures.

  1. Preferred two to four years’ experience in the financial services industry, preferably in one or more of the following areas: Cash handling, Help Desk, Phone Bank.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
