Purpose:Under limited supervision, cleans, prepares, grit blasts, primes, and paints assigned parts and equipment by operating conventional spray equipment and PBC Autoblast System.Essential Job Functions:Discusses/reviews work orders, prime specifications, parts and painting requirements with Lead to assure an awareness of job requirements and parts flowObtains parts or units to be painted and primed using forklift, crane or trucksPrepares each work piece to ensure that no damage will occur while grit blasting and primingOperates PBC Autoblast system to obtain desired finish on work piecesObtains primer/paint and mixes to proper consistency and viscosityAssembles painting equipment and connects paint containers, insuring that pumps are properly cleaned and connectedProperly applies primer, using air assisted spray system to achieve desired/required finishContinuously inspects blasted, primed and painted parts or units to ensure proper coating application and makes gun adjustments as requiredResponsible for all minor repairs on blast and prime booths; repairs, cleans, reassembles spray guns and other related itemsMay provide work direction to lesser experienced department employeesAccumulates, inspects and labels waste materials by company and safety standards. Informs supervisor when drum is full for removalResponsible for handling all fabricated parts, inventory on paints, thinners, reducers, hardeners and coal tarPaints racks, trailers, fixtures, tables, pipeline, elbows, parts for maintenance and spare partsOperates bar code scanner/computerOther duties as assignedRequirements:Physical Demands:Required to re-certify for respirator use annually as the work environment contains hazardous, dust, fumes, and coal tarsPerform work on the production floor 100% of the timeLift up to 50 pounds, as neededEducation/Skills/Experience:Must have High School Diploma or equivalent2-4 years? experience with pressure feed power washers, spray guns, hand trucks, forklift, PBC Autoblast system, cranes and common hand toolsFamiliarity with computer and the use of hand held scannersStrong Attention to detail
