Position Summary
We are seeking a flexible Weekend shift General Laborer - Breakout Operator in our Fabrication Department. The Breakout/Shakeout Operator is responsible for removing laser or turret-cut parts from metal sheets, deburring sharp edges, and supporting material flow throughout the manufacturing process. This role works in a fast-paced production environment using hand tools and equipment to ensure parts meet quality and safety standards. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to follow written procedures, and the capability to safely handle and lift materials while supporting continuous improvement and teamwork within operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Break out metal parts from Laser forms
- Load and unload parts from machines, carts, and dollies.
- Clean the production area by sweeping, mopping, and removing debris.
- Grinds out burrs and sharp edges, using a portable grinder, speed lathe, and polishing jack.
- Lifts, positions, and secures work pieces between machine dies, using manual effort, crane, and/or sledge.
- Scrape waste material from the machine and recycle metals.
- Read and interpret gauges.
- Record data and complete all paperwork accordingly.
- Doing inventory by counting and sorting parts or materials per job work orders and instructions.
