Job Title: Financial Controller


Sign on Bonus: Sign on Bonus of $600 (Half paid out at 3 months and the other half at 12 months).  

Salary Range: $86,000 - $90,000/annually

Description:

The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards, and supporting the board finance and audit committees. This role includes managing accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, grants administration, and audit preparation. The Financial Controller will collaborate with program leaders to align financial systems with program delivery and supervise finance staff.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:


  1. Coordinate all Financial, Accounting, and Reporting Activities
  • Oversee core financial operations including billing, collections, payroll, benefits administration, and audit support.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting, payroll, and purchasing policies
  • Provide cash flow information monthly.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the COO and board finance and audit committees.
  • Assist management with preparing monthly financial statement 
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Lead audit preparation and maintain internal controls.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to align financial systems with program delivery.
  • Manage financial risk and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Provide direction, training, guidance, task management and performance evaluation to Senior Accountant. 
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Maintenance department to track and allocate expenses related to building operations, repairs, and capital improvements
  1. Liaison with IT Consulting Group
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the finance department and IT consultants.
  • Work closely with IT consultants to ensure all IT equipment is efficient, updated, inventoried and properly allocated based on the need across the sites.
  1. Performance Metrics
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reports.
  • Compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Successful audit outcomes.
  • Effective management of financial operations and risk.
  • Alignment of financial systems with program delivery.
  • Staff satisfaction and team performance

Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; an associates degree and experience as a Financial Controller can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience required. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • A clear understanding of GAAP and demonstrated accounting knowledge   
  • Experience with and knowledge of computerized accounting systems   
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel   
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
