Job Description:

Position Objective

Responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility machinery. Ensures plant equipment is properly maintained to support safe, efficient, and reliable production.

Key Responsibilities

路 Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on facility machinery and material handling systems

路 Maintain spare parts inventory, including determining appropriate stocking levels and ordering parts from vendors and catalogs

路 Install, maintain, and repair conveyors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, forklifts, front-end loaders, and sweepers

路 Change bearings, belts, and idler pulleys on trough-style conveyors

路 Clean and service pneumatic valves on optical sorting machines and maintain a clean work area

路 Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs

路 Conduct inspections and basic maintenance on non-ferrous metal detectors

路 Troubleshoot and maintain sorting computer systems (Windows-based); create and maintain software and parameter backups

路 Weld, fabricate, and repair components, including patching holes in steel chutes and transitions

路 Perform rigging of motors, conveyor pulleys, and other heavy components

路 Communicate equipment issues effectively with mechanics and supervisors across shifts

路 Maintain, secure, and properly use tools and equipment

路 Complete daily maintenance and repair logs and support the preventive maintenance (PM) program

路 Provide on-the-job training to new employees

路 Serve as backup support for maintenance technicians as needed

路 Participate in problem-solving efforts and support maintenance-related projects

路 Work collaboratively as a team member and provide leadership when required

路 Work a flexible schedule, including various shifts and days, as business needs dictate

路 Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

路 Advanced mechanical and basic electrical maintenance skills

路 Welding and fabrication experience

路 Strong communication skills

路 Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)

Knowledge & Experience

路 Experience with mechanical conveyor systems

路 Ability to communicate in English and Spanish (required in some locations)

路 Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles

路 Electronic systems experience (preferred)

路 Glass processing experience (preferred)

路 PLC experience (preferred)

Working Conditions

路 Exposure to dusty and noisy environments on a periodic basis

路 Combination of light, moderate, and heavy physical activity

路 Work involves technical and hands-on maintenance tasks

Physical Requirements

路 Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally

路 Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, and climbing stairs (up to 50% of the time)

路 Walking or standing up to 75% of the workday

路 Regular use of hands for handling tools, machinery, welding equipment, and mechanical parts

路 Fine motor skills required for operating machinery, tools, and computer equipment
