About the role
- We are seeking a dedicated and engaged Student Animal Caretaker to support the daily care and
well-being of rodents in our lab. This role involves assisting with feeding, cleaning, monitoring animal
health, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-
oriented, and comfortable working with animals.
Qualifications
ā Must be a current student.
ā Must be able to work most weekdays and weekends.
ā Previous experience with animals (personal, volunteer, or professional) preferred.
ā Comfortable handling animals in a calm and respectful manner.
ā Ability to follow directions and adhere to safety protocols.
ā Strong communication and time management skills.
ā Must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without supervision.
ā Must be responsible and dependable.
ā Referral preferred.

Work Environment:
ā Work is performed in an animal lab setting.
ā Exposure to animal dander, odors, and cleaning agents.
ā Will work involve working independently or as part of a small team.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Animal Caretaker to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
ā Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move up to 50 pounds.
ā Ability to use small step ladders to perform work.
ā Handling, restraining, and moving animals as needed.

Expected Hours of Work:
ā The Animal Caretaker must be able to work 7 days a week, depending on the agreed schedule.
ā Daily assigned work must occur between 7AM and 9PM.
ā Weekly work will average about 5-10 hours per week.
ā Student employees may not work more than 20 hours per week during the school..
