Work Hours: FullTime/Day Shift: /8:30am-5pm with one Saturday every 5-6 weeks.

Work Location: Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital, Saint Petersburg, FL- Esoteric Lab

Position Summary:

  • The laboratory cytogenetic technologist performs all aspects of human chromosome analysis in all tissue types with expertise, using established procedures in the Cytogenetics section of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
  • Provides recommendations to leadership about opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates high attention to detail and can be relied upon for dependable and consistent work output.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree with at least 30 hours in science
  • Board-approved training program in Cytogenetics at the Technologist level OR 1 year clinical laboratory experience in Cytogenetics

Experience:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge and ability to use computers, automated instruments, and mechanical apparatus
  • Experience with FISH, including FFPE, and chromosome analysis of oncology samples preferred

Certification/Licensing:

  • American Society of Clinical Pathology, Cytogenetics CG (ASCP) AND State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License in Cytogenetics

Salary Range: Minimum $27.44 per hour - Maximum $​​​​43.91 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
