Basic Function:


Assist Optician and/or Optometrist in providing eye care to the patients of the Seneca Nation Health System.


GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Obtain medical histories from patients.
  2. Measure and record color vision and depth perception.
  3. Maintain optical and surgical instruments.
  4. Record and maintain patient data in the EMR.
  5. Obtain and record patient's preliminary case history in the EMR.
  6. Schedule appointments in the EMR.
  7. Assist with billing.
  8. Answer phones and triage phone calls.
  9. Generate referrals.
  10. Assist patients with frame and sunglass selection.
  11. Order frames and contact lenses.
  12. Perform lensometry.
  13. Maintain budget guidelines, files as needed, perform bookkeeping tasks with full knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  14. Notify patients when orders are received.
  15. Provide service to walk in patients.
  16. Make sure month end reports and reconciling is complete within 2 dayf of the end of the month.
  17. Make sure all returns are boxed up and sent back for credit.
  18. Perform other duties as the need arises.


QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum of two years' exerpience in an optometric or ophthalmology practice. Competency preffered in Centricity EMR. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel a must.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIOS:


Certification as Opthalmic Technician or Certified Paraoptometric Technician perferred.
