BASIC FUNCTION: 


The Project Inspector will monitor all aspects of construction for the Seneca Nation to ensure optimal and consistent 
construction of all projects.

 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 


1. Reviews all drawings, blueprints, plans and specifications related to new construction.
2. Reviews all requests for progress payments with the architect, engineer and Seneca Nation Health System (SNHS)
accounts payable staff.
3. Completes daily/weekly/monthly construction reports to Supervisor, Director as required.
4. Inspects materials and verifies quantities and quality of materials.
5. Monitors and inspects construction work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and
construction schedules.
6. Attends construction meetings and coordinates construction work schedules.
7. Coordinates work with grant agencies, seeking approval from IHS and EPA, as needed.
8. Schedules drop and delivery for vendor and suppliers.
9. Reviews the work performance of construction crews and performs periodic evaluations.
10. Reviews and completes reports on all change orders.
11. Monitors construction budgets with Supervisor and Director.
12. Coordinates project design modifications and change orders with engineers, architects, consultants, and contractors.
13. Coordinates constmction testing and surveying with SN and technical service companies.
14. May work overtime, holidays as needed.
15. Coordinates work with other SN Departments as needed for construction operations.
16. Assists Supervisor, Director with contract close-out, verifying substantial completion, review of punch list items,
preparation of as-built plans, release of liens, manufacturer's warranty and guarantees, dosing and settlement of
documents, final payment, release of retenHon, warranty inspection and contractor's evaluation.
17. Works closely with the TERO Office for compliance with tribal employment ordinance and TERO plans.
18. Monitors weekly Hmecard and payroll records for contractors and subcontractors.
19. Monitors that OSHA and construction safety requirements are being met.
20. Ensuring contractors' adherence to special requirements as specified.
21. Upholds and promotes the value and integrity of the Seneca Nation and Seneca Nation Health System's mission
statement. Will promote SN and SNHS in a positive manner.
22. Participates and completes all mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and in-services.
23. Follows all policies and procedures of the department, Seneca Nation, and SNHS.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: 


• Familiar with The American Institute of Architects (AIA) forms
• Must have knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and Zoom.
• Demonstrated technical ability to interpret plans and project specifications.
• NYS Building Code knowledge or willing to attend training.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Frequent walking on construction sites, including uneven terrain
• Climbing ladders and working around mechanical spaces
• Tolerance for varying weather during exterior site work


QUALIFICATIONS: 


• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Coursework or certificate in Engineering technology, construction management, architecture, or related technical
field is preferred.
• At least three (3) years' experience in Maintenance or Construction in Residential/Industrrial/Commercial
Projects is preferred.
• Ability and willingness to obtain construction safety credentials ( e . g., OSHA 10) and healthcare construction
ICRA certification within probationary period
• A valid driver's license is required
