Pacific Coast Producers, growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking a Box Maker/Case Former to join our team at our Salem, Oregon plant. PCP is investing in its people and advancing a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America. Our Salem facility produces maraschino cherries and other cherry products in various styles, colors, and flavors and employs between 70-100 employees. 

Pay Rate: $19.52 per hour. Full-time/40 hours per week with some weekend and overtime hours required when needed. Shift is 7:00am to 5:30pm.

 As a Box Maker/Case Former, you operate the case former equipment and maintains a flow of assembled cases to the case packer.  

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Initiates start-up and stoppage of product packing equipment.
  • Performs set-up and changeovers on packing equipment.
  • Sets code information and verifies case codes against label instructions.
  • Change coding as necessary for new and existing products 
  • Make changes from master computer to floor coders
  • Makes machine adjustments during runs.
  • Performs daily operator maintenance on machines, including lubrication.
  • Ensures the equipment is supplied with proper inks, labels and adhesives.
  • Performs quality checks to ensure the correct placement of labels on boxes, code dates and proper case seals.
  • Monitors equipment and line activity.
  • Maintains accurate records in log including producing product in inventory system.
  • Perform controls programs of palletizer for change over’s 
  • Maintain a clean, organized and hazard free work environment.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Bottling Lead and/or Production Manager.
  • Pacific Coast Producers, Inc. is a food processing facility and it is the responsibility of every employee to perform all job duties and other activities in a manner that upholds the safety and quality of the facilities and products produced. In addition, it is the responsibility of each employee to report all food safety issues or concerns to a Production Manager, Plant Manager or QA Management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Physically capable of performing all job duties.
  • 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrates mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills. 
  • Able to read and write English.
  • Working knowledge of computer startups and shut downs.
  • Able to perform basic arithmetic; add, subtract multiply and divide.
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Demonstrates ability to follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and safety rules.
  • Possess and maintain a good attendance record.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes standing, bending, stooping, twisting, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, reaching, hearing, and gripping with hands and fingers.   Moderate physical activity includes walking, pulling, color identification, and close and far vision.

Environmental Factors

Working conditions include exposure to plant temperature extremes, dampness, humidity, fumes, and high noise levels.   Work requires wearing proper protective equipment.  Incumbent may work with rotating machinery and in a crowded area.
