Residential Electrician Apprentice

About the Role:

The Residential Electrician Apprentice role is designed to provide hands-on training and practical experience in residential electrical systems under the guidance of experienced electricians. The primary goal is to develop the apprentice's technical skills and knowledge to safely install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment in residential settings. This position plays a critical role in supporting the completion of electrical projects that meet safety codes and client specifications. Over time, the apprentice will gain proficiency in interpreting blueprints, using electrical tools, and understanding electrical theory. Ultimately, this role prepares the individual for a successful career as a licensed residential electrician by combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Basic understanding of electrical concepts and willingness to learn.
• Ability to pass drug screening.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience or coursework in electrical work or construction.
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
• Commitment to completing apprenticeship program requirements.
• Basic math skills, including algebra and measurements.

Responsibilities:

• Assist licensed electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, outlets, switches, and fixtures in residential buildings.
• Learn to read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and technical manuals to understand project requirements.
• Follow safety protocols and local electrical codes to ensure all work is performed safely and up to standard.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools used in electrical work under supervision.
• Participate in training sessions and complete required coursework to advance apprenticeship certification.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks to identify electrical issues.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure proper handling of materials and equipment.
