Sonic Summary

info
  • We are seeking a Supply Chain Lead to manage our vendor ecosystem and support our growth from a $3M to $5M annual spend by 2027.
  • The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing procurement, particularly with electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Key responsibilities include BOM and spend management, vendor diversification, and implementing inventory strategies to avoid production risks.
  • Candidates should possess strong negotiation skills and expertise in sourcing mechanical parts, fabricated metal, and electronics, along with proficiency in ERP/MRP systems.
  • The position offers a salary range of $80,000 to $100,000 per year and significant upward potential as the business scales.

The Mission

At our core, we design and build "brilliantly simple" machines, but the supply chain powering

them is a complex puzzle of electronics, precision metal, and specialized components. We are

looking for a Supply Chain Lead who doesn’t just "order parts," but strategically manages our

vendor ecosystem to ensure we can scale from our current $3M annual spend to $5M+ by

2027 without hitting bottlenecks.

This role offers a unique "warm handoff" transition period with the current incumbent and

significant upward potential as the business scales into outgoing years.

The Fit

● Technical Investigator: You don't just look at a price tag; you understand the Bill of

Materials (BOM) and the difference between a custom-machined bracket and a

commodity component.

● Unrivaled Attention to Detail: You recognize that a missing $0.50 O-ring is as

catastrophic as a missing $5,000 print engine. You possess a "micro-vision" for data and

a "measure twice, cut once" mentality.

● Relationship Builder: You know that in a growing company, vendors are partners. You

negotiate with firmness but build the trust necessary to ensure our parts are at the front

of the line during global shortages.

● The Optimizer: You are obsessed with "Total Cost of Ownership," constantly looking for

ways to consolidate vendors, reduce lead times, and improve cash flow.

Core Responsibilities

● BOM & Spend Management: Take full ownership of the BOM for all product lines,

ensuring 100% accuracy and availability while managing a growing $3M–$5M spend.

● Vendor Diversification: Identify and vet secondary suppliers for critical "single-source"

components (including gears, pulleys, and fasteners) to eliminate production risks.

● Technical Sourcing: Manage procurement for sheet metal skins, steel frames, and

powder coating—leveraging our established network of local vendors (within 100 miles)

while seeking new pricing advantages.

● Inventory Strategy: Implement Just-In-Time (JIT) or Kanban systems to keep the shop

floor lean without ever "stocking out" on a $2 sensor that could stop a $50k shipment.

● Quality & Logistics: Act as the liaison between Manufacturing, QA, and the warehouse

to ensure parts meet tolerances. You are both the strategist and the executor; if a

shipment is stuck in customs, you are the one getting it cleared.

Technical Requirements

● Experience: 5+ years in manufacturing procurement, specifically with

electro-mechanical assemblies.

● Parts Expertise: Proven experience sourcing mechanical parts (gears, fasteners),

fabricated metal (frames/skins), and electronics.

● ERP Proficiency: Expert-level ability to use ERP/MRP systems to trigger buys, track

lead times, and manage landed costs.

● Contract Negotiation: Proven ability to negotiate Master Service Agreements (MSAs)

and tiered pricing structures as volume increases.

● Local/Global Mix: Experience managing local machine shops for quick-turn parts while

sourcing specialized sub-assemblies (like print engines) globally.

Why Join Us?

We are a small, fast-moving team where you have a direct impact on the product. You won't be

delegating to a department of 10; you will be the architect of a supply chain that supports

cutting-edge digital printing technology. As our business scales, your role and influence within

the company are designed to grow with it
