JOB SUMMARY:
The Associate Producer is a sales-focused, analytically driven role that partners closely with a Senior Producer to source, qualify, analyze, and close new business opportunities while supporting complex prospect and client financial analysis. This role blends front-end business development with data-backed underwriting and prospect analytics to ensure opportunities are strategically pursued, competitively positioned, and effectively converted into revenue.
This position serves as a hybrid replacement for traditional Producer support and Risk Analyst functions and is designed as a developmental path toward full Producer responsibility. The Associate Producer will drive new business growth through disciplined prospecting, opportunity qualification, and analytics-supported sales execution while bridging sales strategy and underwriting rigor to pursue viable, winnable opportunities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Sales & Business Development: Strong sales pipeline management and prospecting skills. Ability to source, qualify, and advance new business opportunities through disciplined discovery and relationship building. Demonstrated ability to support target markets, revenue goals, and conversion metrics.
Analytical & Financial Acumen: Advanced ability to conduct prospect-level underwriting and financial analysis. Translates complex financial data into persuasive sales insights. Identifies alternative funding strategies, uncovered exposures, and pricing opportunities.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare compelling proposals, RFP responses, financial exhibits, and client presentations. Effectively communicates with a diverse spectrum of people across the organization and external stakeholders.
Problem Solving & Decision Making: Ability to identify and pursue strategically viable opportunities. Balances short and long-term considerations in deal execution. Supports pricing strategy and negotiations with data-driven recommendations.
Client Service Orientation: Committed to delivering high-quality service and maintaining strong relationships with prospects, clients, carriers, and vendors. Serves as proxy for Senior Producer as needed and coordinates effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Strategic & Collaborative Mindset: Ability to support sales strategies and collaborate across teams to execute on business development initiatives. Continuously monitors market dynamics and opportunities for improvement in sales processes and outcomes.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development & Sales Execution
- Source, qualify, and advance new business opportunities through disciplined prospecting and research.
- Conduct prospect research, financial discovery, and pre-qualification activities.
- Support sales strategies, target markets, and revenue goals in partnership with Senior Producer.
- Participate in prospect meetings, presentations, and closing activities.
- Track sales pipelines, conversion metrics, and business development outcomes.
Prospect Analytics & Financial Positioning
- Lead prospect-level underwriting and financial analysis to support deal evaluation.
- Prepare and analyze renewal and marketing financials for prospects and clients.
- Translate complex financial data into persuasive sales insights and recommendations.
- Identify alternative funding strategies, uncovered exposures, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support pricing strategy development and participate in negotiations.
RFPs, Proposals & Deal Support
- Lead the response to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) from initial review through submission.
- Prepare high-quality proposals, financial exhibits, and client presentations.
- Assist in carrier and vendor negotiations to secure optimal terms.
- Support onboarding and implementation activities for new business.
Client, Carrier & Internal Coordination
- Serve as proxy for Senior Producer in meetings and communications as needed.
- Coordinate with internal teams (service, operations, finance) and external partners.
- Maintain and develop relationships with carriers, vendors, and other strategic partners.
- Track new business wins, lost opportunities, and financial performance metrics.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong sales pipeline management and prospecting knowledge.
- Advanced analytical and financial acumen with ability to interpret complex data.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (financial modeling, data analysis, pivot tables).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate to diverse audiences.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, revenue-focused environment.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in employee benefits sales, business development, or underwriting required.
- Demonstrated employee benefits program knowledge and experience required.
- Insurance license or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
- Industry designations (CEBS, RHU, REBC, or similar) preferred.
CAREER PATH:
This role is designed as a developmental path to a full Producer position, with increasing responsibility for revenue generation, client relationships, and business ownership. Successful Associate Producers will have opportunities to build their own book of business and advance to Producer roles within 2-3 years.
