JOB SUMMARY:

The Summer Patrol Department is a fun and exciting way to join the on-mountain ski industry and the Monarch family.  This department is an active outdoor department that provides opportunities to earn and play in the mountains.  Summer Trail Maintenance staff should have a positive attitude, enjoy being outdoors, and be able to complete labor intensive projects. Projects can include, but not limited to, tree thinning, moving rocks, digging trenches, and various other outdoor construction projects on the mountain and around the base area.  

 

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The Summer Trail Maintenance responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Work in conjunction with other employees and departments as part of the Monarch team.
  • Use best practices and follow all safety and operating procedures in the performance of all duties.
  • Be responsible for and use safe operating practices of equipment and tools assigned, in accordance with user manuals and department procedures.
  • Maintain slopes/trails/roads by removing rocks, saplings, blow downs, trash, etc.
  • Perform logging operations including falling, bucking, swamping, skidding, splitting, milling, and loading trucks.
  • Maintain and install erosion control features on roads, trails, parking lot, and around construction projects.
  • Load & unload trucks getting supplies & equipment where they need to go.
  • Perform demolition, digging, construction and other tasks as assigned.
  • Assist in the picking up of trash and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance of the property.
  • Assist with supply pickup in town and debris removal.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • USFS Sawyer Certification (S-212) preferred
  • Ability to push, lift, and move up to 90 lbs.
  • Ability to work outdoors at elevation in varying weather conditions for up to 10 hours per day.
  • A valid driver’s license and good, company insurable driving record preferred.
  • Legal citizen of the United States or possess other proper work permit authentication.
  • Some previous experience with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work on ladders, at heights, trenches, ditches, and with straw/other agriculture products.
