We are currently looking for an energetic and knowledgeable individual to fill a full-time Transportation Engineer in Training position in our Ellsworth, Cheney or Salina, Kansas Office. This position could be filled by a recent college graduate or an individual with professional experience up to three years. The title/level of position will be based on the skills and experience of the candidate selected.   

Primary Function: This entry-level full-time position located in the Ellsworth, Cheney or Salina, Kansas office will involve general civil engineering duties including geometric roadway and highway design, MicroStation/OpenRoads Designer CAD design and 3D modeling, stormwater modeling and analysis, grading and drainage design, traffic control design, and generation of engineering reports. The candidate will work under the direction of a senior team member and receive specific instruction for required tasks and project components. You will create design drawings and conduct basic engineering calculations on assigned portions of multiple projects. Instruction on geometric roadway design, stormwater modeling, and CAD design will be provided as you begin to apply engineering education to practical solutions.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs standard engineering computations or analysis.
  • Assists in the preparation or modification of plans, reports, specifications, and permits for projects.
  • Assists in the development of probable construction quantities and construction cost estimates for design projects.
  • Geometric roadway design/modeling and traffic control design.
  • Stormwater modeling and drainage design.
  • CSM activities for specifically targeted clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or (similar engineering degree) or currently enrolled as a senior at an accredited university majoring in Civil Engineering.
  • Previous engineering work experience not required, but a plus.
  • High level of creativity, enthusiasm, and self-motivation
  • Valid driver's license and ability to be insured required
