Our business is built on precision, integrity, and dependable service. As we continue to grow, we're looking for a skilled and motivated Heavy-Duty Scale Technician to join our Salina team. If you enjoy hands-on technical work, solving mechanical challenges, and working directly with customers in the field, this role is a strong fit. 

Position Summary 

As a Heavy-Duty Scale Technician, you will install, inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain truck scales and industrial weighing equipment at customer locations throughout central and western Kansas. 

This field-based role combines mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and customer service skills. You will work independently in a variety of industrial environments while representing Salina Scale as a trusted technical expert. 

You will ensure customers receive accurate, compliant, and reliable weighing systems that meet operational and regulatory standards. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Install, calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair truck scales, axle scales, floor scales, and industrial weighing systems.  

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, electronic, and software-related issues.  

  • Perform preventative maintenance to maximize system uptime and reliability.  

  • Conduct calibrations using certified test weights and specialized diagnostic equipment.  

  • Ensure all weighing systems comply with NIST Handbook 44 and applicable industry standards.  

  • Complete detailed service reports, calibration certificates, inspection documentation, and maintenance records.  

  • Communicate technical findings, repair recommendations, and project updates clearly with customers.  

  • Safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, skid steers, cranes, and other job-site equipment as needed.  

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicles in safe, working condition.  

  • Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety protocols.  

  • Travel throughout central and western Kansas to complete service, installation, and emergency repairs.  

  • Participate in occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency service calls.  

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.  

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple service assignments.  

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.  

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.  

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.  

  • Current CDL (Class A or B with Air Brake Endorsement), or willingness and ability to obtain one.  

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.  

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying Midwest weather conditions and industrial environments.
