Pharmacy Technician General Description

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing patients with friendly, efficient and timely delivery of prescribed medications. Includes communication with insurance companies and involvement with problem solving and troubleshooting.

Pharmacy Technician Essential Duties

  1.  Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy, 340B eligibility, and patient safety while maintaining up-to-date knowledge of 340B program requirements and compliance regulations.
  2. Provide a positive, professional impression through respectful communication and actively engage with patients, visitors, and staff to offer assistance.
  3. Perform standard pharmacy duties including prescription processing, payment handling, customer assistance, insurance billing, and medication delivery.
  4. Complete pharmacy delivery duties by coordinating, transporting, and delivering medications safely and on time while maintaining required documentation, using delivery software, providing excellent customer service, and operating delivery vehicles in compliance with policy.
  5. Order and receive pharmacy inventory and supplies, verifying quantities against invoices.
  6. Assist with the various prescription savings programs by processing, tracking, and coordinating assistance medications, maintaining inventory, resolving issues, renewing applications, and communicating effectively with patients, providers, and pharmacy staff.
  7. Manage Prescription Savings Programs by processing, tracking, and coordinating assistance medications, maintaining inventory, resolving issues, renewing applications, and communicating effectively with patients, providers, and pharmacy staff.
  8. Facilitate patient enrollment in SimpleSync, manage assigned patients using PioneerRx tools, and complete monthly and follow-up calls to ensure timely medication pickups.
  9. Operate Rapid PakRx adherence packaging system.
  10. Maintain accurate med lists from all sources (including Prescription Savings Programs) in PioneerRx, Athena, and TPC.
  11. Assist Pharmacy Tech 1 with daily Adherence Calls.
  12. Assist Pharmacists and Pharmacy Tech 1 with MTM completion.
  13. Assist with completion of pharmacy daily checklist tasks.
  14. Perform all duties, services and documentation in full compliance with organization policies and procedures.
  15. Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
  16. Perform additional duties as assigned.


Pharmacy Technician Skills Required 

  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.
  2. Understands math concepts such as percentages, algebra, ratios, and fractions for necessary pharmaceutical calculations.
  3. Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.
  4. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate with staff, patients, insurance companies, and vendors.
  5. Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload.
  6. Effective and efficient time management, including arriving to work prepared and on-time and timely completion of work.
  7. Computer Literacy and ability to read and comprehend written information.


Pharmacy Technician Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent;
  2. Valid Kansas Pharmacy Tech License;
  3. Must have and maintain CPR certification;
  4. Valid Kansas Driver’s license, 
  5. Current auto insurance, 
  6. 1-2 years of experience;
  7. National PTCB or ExCPT Certification required and maintain certification;
  8. Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient and employee base.
