EPIC Acute

This position’s duties include working with various departments and remote systems users to include, but not limited to Healthcare System clinical and financial application software and.  Proficiency in SQL Reporting Services, and Visual Basic.NET Programming for purposes of manipulating and reporting on data, a primary responsibility of this job function, is required.  Familiarity with systems integration utilizing Healthcare System’s established tool sets and information systems interfacing standards is also important for this role.  Implements and administers database solutions within a variety of computing environments.  This role may also serve as a resource for report writing against our information systems including defining report requirements, design, develop, test and implement report-based programs. Incumbent may be required to report to their project stakeholder during assigned projects.

  • Analyzes and provides guidance in support of hospital integration initiatives.
  • Performs systems integration responsibilities, including monitoring, related to Meditech, Epic and other vendor systems through scripting and systems integration tools.
  • Develops and tests high-availability and disaster recovery strategies for network based database environments.  Confirms program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or codes.
  • Provide reports through use of SQL, Access, Crystal Reports and Visual Basic.NET programming for purposes of manipulating and reporting. 
  • Assess the reporting needs and requirements of all end-users through investigations, analysis, and evaluation to create desired/necessary reports.
  • Analyze, design documents, develop, test, implement, and maintain reporting user interfaces including alerts, prompts, screens, dashboards and templates. Provide documentation and training to transfer knowledge and operational support.
  • Prepare detailed specifications, technical and user documentation from which reports, downloads and extracts will be written.  Ensure complete and accurate logical definition of data.
  • Responsible for maintaining data integrity and the ongoing quality control of delivered reports.
  • Validate system build/reports designs and perform audit report findings of security and data controls.
  • Assist with quality assurance (testing) and documentation of testing results thorough standard procedures and processes.
  • Safeguard protected health information from any intentional or unintentional disclosure in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Licensure: Epic Data Model Certification required.   New hires and transfers have 45 days from completion of SVMHS-sponsored Epic training to complete required Epic certification.

Experience:  Minimum of one (1) year experience within a healthcare-related environment managing SQL databases.  Evidence of proficiency in Crystal Reports and Visual Basic and .NET programming.  Evidence of familiarity with clinical and financial systems integration utilizing industry standard tools.  Working knowledge of the process and delivery of patient care services in an acute care facility. 

The hourly rate for this position is $51.60 - $64.50. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
