The Opportunity: Full-Time Construction Inspector

IFS is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to support construction activities at Salisbury National Cemetery in Salisbury, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to work on a high-profile federal project that directly supports our nation's veterans while ensuring construction quality, contract compliance, and successful project delivery.

The Construction Inspector will serve as the on-site representative, providing daily oversight of construction activities, documenting progress, monitoring workmanship, and coordinating with contractors and Government personnel throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

As a Construction Inspector at IFS, you will play a critical role in maintaining project quality and ensuring compliance with contract requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct daily site inspections to verify compliance with contract drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Observe construction activities and document progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed daily inspection reports, photographs, and project documentation.
  • Monitor contractor quality control and verify completed work prior to acceptance.
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, testing agencies, and Government representatives.
  • Attend project meetings and assist with progress tracking and issue resolution.
  • Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFIs as needed to support field activities.
  • Support project closeout activities, punch list inspections, and final acceptance.

This is a full-time position with an anticipated schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, based on project requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction inspection or construction management experience.
  • Experience interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse active construction sites.

Preferred

  • Experience on federal construction projects, particularly with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), National Cemetery Administration (NCA), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), or Department of Defense (DoD).
  • Familiarity with daily reporting platforms such as Raken, Procore, or similar construction management software.
  • Certifications such as ICC, NICET, OSHA 30, CQM-C, or equivalent.
  • Experience with civil site work, utilities, concrete, landscaping, irrigation, and architectural construction.
