Job DetailsJob Location: Salisbury, NC 28144Position Type: Full TimeJOB SUMMARY: Assists in examination and treatment of patients. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Triage patient phone calls, portal messages, and walk-in concerns according to established clinical protocols. Obtain and document patient history, chief complaints, allergies, medications, and vital signs. Recognize urgent or emergent symptoms and promptly notify the provider or direct patients to the appropriate level of care. Schedule same-day or follow-up appointments based on clinical need. Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments. Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and perform point-of-care testing as permitted by state regulations and organizational policy. Prepare exam rooms and maintain adequate medical supplies and equipment. Process prescription refill requests according to provider protocols. Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care. Educate patients on medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and chronic disease management. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention standards, and organizational policies. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support patient-centered care. Other duties as assigned. QualificationsMinimum Job Qualifications: Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Proficiency in taking vital signs, administering injections, and performing phlebotomy. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems. Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality. Education: High School diploma – required and Associate’s degree - preferred. License/Certifications: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or CCMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required. Language Skills: English proficient required
