What You’ll Do: Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the daily operations of the service department to deliver superior service and efficient workflow.
  • Schedule and assign jobs based on technician skills and availability.
  • Ensure timely logistics for equipment pickups, repairs, and deliveries.
  • Review work orders for accuracy before billing.
  • Manage warranty claims and Product Improvement Program submissions in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Branch Manager and other departments to enhance cross-functional communication and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and help build development plans for service team members.
  • Enforce company policies, promote safety standards, and lead daily pre-shift safety meetings.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Remain on-call as needed and work extended hours, including Saturdays when required.
  • Assist with other duties as required to ensure smooth and efficient department operations
  • Minimal travel for training, with the possibility of an overnight stay depending on the location

Requirements

What We’re Looking For: Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven Experience in Equipment Service Management - 3–5 years of experience in managing service operations, preferably in agricultural or construction equipment.
  • Leadership & Team Management - Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate a team of technicians and service staff.
  • Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of agricultural machinery, diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Customer Service Excellence - Commitment to delivering exceptional service and maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Effective Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly with technicians, customers, and upper management.
  • Organizational Skills - Strong planning and time management abilities to schedule service work efficiently and prioritize urgent repairs.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities - Skilled at diagnosing service bottlenecks and implementing practical solutions.
  • Familiarity with Service Software & Inventory Systems - Comfortable using service management systems, parts lookup tools, and standard business software (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Budget & Cost Control Awareness - Experience managing labor hours, service revenue goals, and equipment repair costs.
  • Tools - Must have a personal tool set and ensure proper tracking and accountability of all tools
  • Education - High school diploma or GED required
  • Valid Driver’s License - Required for occasional travel between locations, to job sites, or for training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience managing technicians and a service department.
  • Technical certification or Associate’s degree in diesel technology, ag mechanics, or related field
  • Familiarity with Ag or Construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of HBS or similar dealership management software.
  • Forklift certification.
  • Class E or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods during inspections or hands on assistance
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to sit and work at a desk or computer for extended period
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices when required
  • Comfortable working in varying environment conditions (heat, cold, noise, dust) when in the shop
  • Visual and auditory ability to safely and effectively oversee operations and communicate with team members
