Position Summary

 

The Videographer is responsible for creating compelling, high-quality video content that tells the Livingstone College story and supports institutional marketing, recruitment, enrollment, advancement, alumni engagement, athletics, academic programs, student life, and special events. The position manages the video production process from concept development and pre-production through filming, editing, post-production, and final delivery.

Working collaboratively with campus departments, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and external partners, the Videographer produces visually engaging content that reflects the College’s mission, values, culture, and brand identity. Photography skills are also utilized as needed to support integrated marketing and communications initiatives. This role draws on the source examples’ emphasis on strategic visual storytelling, end-to-end production, brand consistency, multi-platform delivery, equipment management, and collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create, edit, and produce high-quality video content for campaigns, programs, recruitment, fundraising, alumni, athletics, campus events, and social media.
  • Manage all video production phases: concept development, scripting, storyboarding, location planning, filming, audio, lighting, editing, color correction, motion graphics, and delivery.
  • Capture compelling stories featuring students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, campus leaders, and community partners.
  • Produce content optimized for websites, social media, digital advertising, presentations, streaming platforms, and other communications channels.
  • Collaborate with the Integrated Marketing & Communications team and campus stakeholders to translate marketing objectives and creative briefs into effective visual storytelling.
  • Provide video coverage for college events, ceremonies, activities, and other tasks, including occasional evening and weekend work. Support live-streaming and video production for institutional events, announcements, and special programs as needed.
  • Ensure all video and photography assets align with Livingstone College brand standards and meet professional technical and accessibility requirements.
  • Maintain, organize, and archive video and photography assets for efficient retrieval and future use.
  • Operate, maintain, and recommend appropriate upgrades for cameras, lenses, lighting, audio, editing, and related production equipment.
  • Stay current with emerging video, digital storytelling, editing, and production technologies, and recommend workflow and content development improvements.
  • Provide photography and photo-editing support as needed for marketing campaigns, publications, websites, and social media.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education/ Experience

 

What you will need to be successful!

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in film, media production, communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in videography, video production, editing, or related creative media work preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience producing video content for digital, web, social media, marketing, or organizational communications.
  • A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating storytelling ability, technical proficiency, and professional-quality video production is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with professional video cameras and production equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of video editing and post-production software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable applications.
  • Working knowledge of lighting, audio recording, composition, color correction, and video compression and delivery formats.
  • Experience creating content for multiple platforms and adapting video formats for varying audiences and channels.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong creative, organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners.
  • Ability to direct and make non-professional talent comfortable and effective on camera.
  • Photography and photo-editing skills are preferred.
  • Knowledge of motion graphics, animation, and live-streaming technologies is preferred.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, and travel to on- and off-campus production locations as required.

Work Environment

Office-based with regular need to attend and cover campus events, occasionally outside standard business hours.
