Job description:

Archer Mechanical is seeking a full-time Estimator to join our growing team.

Archer Mechanical specializes in sustainable mechanical and plumbing systems, providing design-build, design-assist, new construction, additions, remodels, retrofits, service, and preventative maintenance.

The organization has been established since 1987 and has continued to grow rapidly over the past 38 years. Archer Mechanical produces a higher-value product cost-effectively and efficiently using progressive construction planning technologies, advanced construction materials, and manufacturing methods, reducing safety risks, schedule durations, and congestion on the job site while enhancing the construction results.

As an Estimator you will support Archer Mechanical by preparing accurate, detailed estimates and budgets for projects derived from construction drawings, specifications, narratives, and all other project information provided. You will serve as a point of contact for clients to provide comprehensive proposals and budgets while meeting the client's expectations. The estimator would be responsible for the communication of estimates and takeoff details to supervisors, vendors and trade partners.

This position is expected to report in person full time at our location in Salt Lake City. There is potential for a hybrid schedule once tenure and performance benchmarks have been established.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare take-offs, analyses, estimates, and value engineering for all items in assigned scope.
  • Conduct constructability analysis through design and project documentation review and address questions with point of contact.
  • Perform pre-bid job site walks and investigations
  • Develop value engineering review by identifying cost-efficient alternatives to scope.
  • Serve as point of contact with subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Assemble bids and proposals for different contract types (Lump Sum, Target Value Design, FLCC, etc.)
  • Analyze site conditions and contract documents to determine required scope
  • Coordinate with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to avoid scope gaps and
  • overlaps.
  • Work with management and operations to ensure estimate addresses general
  • requirements.
  • Evaluate subcontractor proposals and manage risk of scope gaps.
  • Answer technical questions about all the services provided.
  • Establish and maintain estimating client and vendor relationships.
  • Maintain estimating logs and vendor/subcontractor quotes in project folders.
  • Ensure assigned projects are completed on time.
  • Participate and contribute to design and coordination meetings.
  • Provide constructability feedback through design phases.
  • Develop and maintain cost studies, budget tracking & reporting, and procurement logs.

Critical Qualifications:

  • High school degree/GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC/Plumbing estimating experience
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC & Plumbing systems
  • Expertise in reading blueprints & specifications and performing material take - offs
  • Well-organized and able to work with others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced technical proficiency and digital agility

Preferential Qualifications:

  • Experience working with DFCM
  • Intimate knowledge of hydronics, HVAC & plumbing systems
  • Prior field-work experience
  • Advanced skills in Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Autobid Mechanical
  • 2+ years conceptual estimating
