Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Lead, Project Engineer to support technical execution across assigned programs and lifecycle activities for complex systems and products. This role drives day-to-day execution for assigned engineering programs. This position oversees cost, schedule, and technical performance within program objectives and customer commitments. Lead the planning, execution, and technical coordination of secure, mission-critical DoW communication systems projects, ensuring requirements, schedules, system integration, cybersecurity, and stakeholder objectives are successfully met across tactical and strategic operations. The role serves as the central point of coordination across project management and planning, the engineering team, and line management, and establishes the reporting and control mechanisms needed to track progress, resolve issues, and keep execution on plan.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day execution of assigned engineering programs
  • Oversee cost, schedule, and technical performance within program and customer commitments
  • Serve as the primary interface among engineering project management and planning, the engineering team, and line management
  • Review project status, budgets, and schedules and deliver clear status reporting
  • Resolve project issues to protect productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Establish reporting and control mechanisms to track progress and enable timely intervention
  • Align engineering project managers, line managers, customers, and stakeholders on execution priorities
  • Coordinate with resource managers and supervisors to support staffing and execution
  • Ensure required reviews, decisions, and approvals are completed on schedule
  • Lead large, complex initiatives with minimal oversight or direction
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training across the organization within the area of expertise
  • Conduct phase-down analyses and capture lessons learned for future programs and missions
  • Improve processes, systems, and execution approaches to deliver measurable business results
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the job area and in-depth knowledge of project management, with the ability to manage large, complex project initiatives with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to communicate within and outside the organization, influence changes to practices and processes, and implement operational plans with measurable business or functional impact.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large cross-functional engineering efforts of strategic importance to the organization
  • Experience communicating with customers, vendors, and leadership on matters affecting project or business outcomes
  • Experience improving processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance across the job area
  • Strong root-cause investigation and problem-solving skills in complex or ambiguous environments
  • Experience establishing short-term operational plans aligned to strategic goals and functional objectives
  • Experience supporting engineering programs with complex cross-functional stakeholder coordination
