The Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager reports to the Director for Temporal Affairs and receives strategic support from the Welfare and Self-Reliance Department. The primary responsibility is to oversee all welfare and self-reliance efforts within the Area, helping local leaders minister to those in need, achieve self-reliance, develop resources, and provide general support, as well as directing the Area humanitarian efforts according to Area priorities set by the Area Presidency and within Church guidelines.Â
The incumbent helps local leaders minister to those in need, strengthen self-reliance among members and communities, develop sustainable resources, and advance Area priorities consistent with Church guidelines. The role leads welfare and self-reliance managers, the area humanitarian manager, missionaries, volunteers, and other personnel in support of Area objectives.
Responsibilities include directing programs that promote education, employment, self-employment, and other self-reliance outcomes; leading humanitarian and emergency response initiatives; overseeing budgets, resource stewardship, project evaluation, and impact measurement; and providing strategic counsel and regular reporting to Area leadership.
The position also cultivates relationships with government agencies, educational institutions, community organizations, financial institutions, employers, and other key stakeholders to expand resources and opportunities for members and communities. Through effective leadership, partnership, and stewardship, the Area Welfare and Self-Reliance Manager ensures the successful execution of Area objectives while strengthening the temporal well-being and self-reliance of individuals, families, and communities throughout the Area.
