Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Â
Â
As a Maintenance Technician III you are primarily the technician who one is responsible for overseeing the repair/install and maintain plant equipment, complete required predictive maintenance activities on a routine schedule and always strive to prevent unplanned breakdowns. Furthermore, since this position is filled due to company need, positions may be limited.
Â
- Observe the daily and past manufacturing process and communicate and/or implement improvements to the operation.Â
- Follow Horizon Organic Dairy guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices when performing the requirements of Reliability Technician III.
- Visually inspect the manufacturing line and communicate deficiencies with operations and maintenance. Schedule those improvements and then complete them.
- Complete work orders as assigned and write new work orders as you identify equipment deficiency
- Participate and help others and demonstrate the Horizon values of respect and support
- Review cmms work orders from previous shifts both in operations and maintenance and note equipment needs for shift leads to help with
- Locate and identify spare parts by using the cmms system in the storeroom and make recommendations to stock spare parts and inventory levels.
- Perform lubrication on equipment following the plant lubrication standards and monitor lubrication practices of others offering training etc. to ensure the equipment receives proper lubrication.
- Participate in the developing of PM’s by suggesting new tasks, changes and hours to complete those tasks to the planner and team leader
- Contribute by participating with the AM/PM team and performing tasks
- Correct unsafe and quality issues and conditions asap and monitor these logs to ensure completion progress is timelyÂ
- Install, examine, inspect, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures PLC & PID controllers and pipe, and electrical systems and train other Technicians
- Troubleshoot any mechanical or electrical problems using PLC, ladder diagrams, schematics, PID and or CMMS and train other Technicians
- Cycle equipment or system to ensure safe and correct operation, to be able to improve efficiency and effectiveness, quality and safety.
- Set up and safely operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press and milling machine to repair or fabricate parts as needed
- Maintain maintenance area in a clean and orderly fashion; always keeping work area clean.
- Operate a forklift and other heavy machinery whenever it is applicable
- Assist if necessary, in preparation of the weekly maintenance work schedule in conjunction with the Maintenance management, staff and OperationsÂ
- Provides insight on the scope of all corrective work orders and orders for parts and materials to ensure the job is completed in a timely mannerÂ
- Assists the Maintenance Planner, Team Leader or Buyer and Peers with accomplishing the tasks at hand in a timely mannerÂ
- Works with Operations and Maintenance management to identify areas of opportunity to schedule work during periods of downtimeÂ
- Participates in weekly, bi-weekly and monthly Predictive Maintenance functions such as vibration analysis, Infrared Scans & oil analysis to prevent unplanned breakdownsÂ
- Prepares reports for the Maintenance team as necessary for compliance and budgetary requirementsÂ
- Support the plant’s efforts of Horizon system of continuous improvements
- Assist with maintenance activities as needed but not limited to PM’s and repairs.
- Able to diagnose problems and adjust various utility systems including boilers, ammonia, compressed air, wastewater, and HVAC systems.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE:
• High school diploma or equivalentÂ
• Electrical/Mechanical background necessaryÂ
• Apprenticeship program or technical background preferredÂ
• Above average computer skills including MS Word & MS ExcelÂ
• 3-5 years of experience with computerized CMMS work order system preferredÂ

• Work with vendors to insure price and availability for maintenance operations
• Proactively communicate with maintenance, operations and Plant Management in a cooperative and respectful manner to foster a collaborative and positive work environment

• Willing and available to work overtime if requested or needed by the Maintenance Management Staff
• Work willingly with co-workers and the management team to achieve department and company goals
• Support co-workers and management in carrying out daily maintenance responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Multi-craft/multi-skilled with expertise in electrical, electrical controls, mechanical, pneumatics, hydraulics and fabricationÂ
- Working knowledge of PLC’s, VFD’s, Servo’s and plant automation systems
- Previous experience with industrial controls using Allen Bradley control platforms, Motor Controls (Servo and VFD) a definite plus
- Ability to work various shifts
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, mechanical and electrical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to fill out routine reports, correspondence documents and to speak effectively when conveying information to other employees. Should have good oral/written communication skills and possess tact.
Computer Skills
- Working knowledge of computer system input, retrieval and use or the ability to learn in a reasonable training period.
- Software including: Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft ProjectÂ
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply all units of measure, using whole numbers,
 common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, percentages and generate and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
 proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form with several abstract and concrete variables.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
