Position Summary
The Communications Research Assistant supports the Communication Program by assisting the department chair and faculty with research, administrative tasks, and student support. This includes serving as a teaching assistant, aiding with grading and feedback, offering copyediting and tutoring for COMM 490 students, and supporting faculty projects. The ideal candidate is a strong writer who enjoys collaborative and detail-oriented work.
Primary Responsibilities & Tasks
• Administrative Support: Assist the chair of the Communication program with organizational and administrative tasks.
• Teaching Assistant Duties: Support COMM faculty with grading, providing feedback on assignments, and assisting in class preparation.
• Copyediting Support: Offer proofreading and editing support to students in COMM 490.
• Tutoring & Peer Support: Lead tutoring sessions or study groups to help students strengthen their communication skills.
• Research Support: Assist faculty with academic research including source gathering, content organization, and literature review.
• Departmental Collaboration: Step in to support other faculty members in the department as directed by the program chair.
Learning Outcomes
Students in this role will:
