Men’s Basketball Student Assistant

Student Position

Position Overview

The Westminster University Men’s Basketball program is seeking a dependable, energetic, and creative student assistant to support the program’s daily operations. This position is ideal for a student interested in athletics, coaching, sports media, or content creation who wants hands-on experience within a college basketball program.


Primary Responsibilities

Social Media and Content

  • Develop creative ideas for the program’s social media platforms.
  • Capture photos and short-form video content at practices, games, team activities, and special events.
  • Assist with creating, editing, and publishing engaging social media content.
  • Help highlight student-athletes, coaches, team accomplishments, and the overall culture of Westminster Men’s Basketball.
  • Follow Westminster University branding and social media guidelines.

Practice Support

  • Assist coaches and players during practices and individual workouts.
  • Rebound, pass, and help facilitate drills.
  • Assist with practice setup and breakdown.
  • Organize and maintain basketballs, training equipment, and other practice materials.
  • Complete additional basketball-related duties as assigned by the coaching staff.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Westminster University student in good academic standing.
  • Dependable, punctual, organized, and willing to take initiative.
  • Strong interest in basketball, sports media, marketing, or content creation.
  • Familiarity with Instagram and other social media platforms.
  • Basic photography, videography, graphic design, or video-editing experience is preferred but not required.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with coaches and student-athletes.
  • Available for practices, games, and occasional team events.
