Sr. Inventory Accountant
We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Accountant to manage and ensure the accuracy of inventory-related financial records. This role is critical in maintaining inventory integrity, supporting cost accounting activities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a solid accounting foundation, and experience working with inventory in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with GAAP
Perform inventory reconciliations between sub-ledgers and the general ledger
Analyze inventory valuation and reserves
Support month-end and year-end close processes related to inventory
Prepare and review journal entries for inventory transactions
Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and cycle counts
Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
Collaborate with Supply Chain and Internal Audit teams to monitor obsolescence and improve inventory controls
Assist with internal and external audits related to inventory
Support process improvements and system enhancements related to inventory accounting
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CPA-eligible, preferred)
2–5 years of accounting experience with a focus on inventory
Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles and cost accounting
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, analysis)
Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or retail environments
Knowledge of standard costing and inventory controls
Experience supporting audits
