Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Manager to be based in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role will serve as a technical lead on large, complex transportation projects currently in backlog while also playing a key role in upcoming pursuits and the bidding process. The selected candidate will provide hands-on leadership across roadway, highway, bridge, traffic, and transit projects, ensuring technical excellence, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery. This position offers the opportunity to guide multidisciplinary teams, influence major infrastructure improvements across Utah and the surrounding region, and contribute strategically to business growth initiatives within the Transportation Business Line.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as Technical Lead and Project Manager for large, complex transportation projects in active backlog.
  • Provide oversight and direction for engineering design development across roadway, highway, bridge, traffic, and transit disciplines.
  • Lead technical coordination among multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated and high-quality deliverables.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee preparation and review of plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports.
  • Support proposal development efforts, including technical approach, staffing plans, fee development, and risk assessment.
  • Participate actively in the bidding process, including strategy development and client presentations.
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers and project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local standards and agency requirements.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 2 years of leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Transportation Engineering
  • 15 years of relevant project PS&E design experience
  • 5 years' DOT experience, specifically within UDOT
  • Professional Engineer in the State of Utah
  • Proficient with DOT Design Standards
  • 5 years’ experience with proposal and business development, client presentations and relationship development
  • Demonstrated success in achieving scope, schedule, and budget goals on a large-scale transportation project.
