Position Summary

Sizzling Platter is growing. We’re seeking a Staff Accountant – Accounts Payable to join our accounting team at our Murray, UT Support Center. This role is responsible for supporting accounts payable and general accounting functions in a high-volume environment supporting more than 800 restaurant locations.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. This position works closely with Corporate Support and Operations teams and requires strong customer service and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Prepare and post journal entries related to accounts payable activity
• Record accruals at period end and support the month-end close process
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare and file sales and use tax returns
• Research and resolve accounting issues, discrepancies, and vendor inquiries
• Communicate effectively with internal departments and external vendors
• Maintain accuracy while adhering to strict deadlines
• Assist with special projects and accounting initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a high transaction-volume environment
• Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals including:
• Chart of accounts
• Debits and credits
• Journal entries
• Account reconciliations
• Experience with general ledger systems (NetSuite preferred)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with:
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the restaurant, hospitality, or retail industry
• Experience processing telecommunications invoices
• Knowledge of sales and use tax filings
