Position Summary The Lower School seeks an educator who will plan and implement curriculum for an upper elementary classroom and work effectively with the grade-level team and specialty teachers. In addition to teaching, this person will communicate regularly and proactively with students, their families, and colleagues, and contribute positively to the overall school culture while fulfilling duties as assigned (recess and lunch supervision, field trips, etc.) and serving on all-school or divisional committees as needed. Primary Job Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and implement curriculum, both as provided by the school and in collaboration with grade level teams and the Student Support Team Evaluate and effectively communicate student progress with students, families, and the Student Support Team Demonstrate knowledge of and a commitment to equitable and inclusive practices and behaviors, both in and outside of the classroom Communicate with families effectively and proactively, independently and in collaboration with the Student Support Team Co-create and sustain a positive learning environment for and with students Engage in ongoing professional development, including collaborative curricular review, and continued learning across a broad range of topics in support of the school’s mission and strategic priorities, including on grade-level teams Other duties as assigned Skills and Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field required; teaching certification preferred. Demonstrated experience teaching elementary-aged students. Strong understanding of child development and best practices in elementary education. Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, Drive) and comfort using iOS devices and educational technology tools. Ability to design engaging, developmentally appropriate, student-centered learning experiences. Demonstrated cultural competence and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; proven ability to work successfully with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and belief systems. Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively within a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues.
