Summary:

Transform customer artwork into production‑ready graphics and CNC toolpaths for dies used in pressed products such as emblems, coin, and icons.

Receive requests from Industrial Designers in 2D format and convert through tooling 3D software to machine ready format.  Determine reliefs, contours, drafts, and appropriate depths to create intended design result.  Work closely with other Tooling team members to refine the processes and reduce throughput.  Troubleshoot tool quality problems and durability opportunities in design.  Create goals and fulfill assignments as needed to improve KPI measures.

Duties:

1. Convert from 2D to 3D

2. Clean up tools for production

3. Operate CNC mills and wires to create tools

4. Generate tool paths for engraving, milling, and wire using CAD/CAM software

5. Perform quality checks on artwork and toolpath before release to production

6. Convert custom supplied artwork into clean ready vector graphics

7. Ensure designs meet technical constraints for manufacturing process

8. Maintain organized design files, revision histories, and tool documentation

9. Apply improvement mindset to work

10. Lean manufacturing best practices applied

11. Collaborate with team to ensure goals and objectives met

12. Efficient toolpaths to improve cutting time while improving detail and consistency

13. Apply new industry best practices to everyday work

14. Work with design department to obtain a successful outcome for quality and durability

Desired Skills:

1. Works well under pressure

2. Excellent Communication and Writing Skills

3. Highly organized

4. Coining experience

5. Follow all company safety rules and procedures, including PPE and 5S

6. Software proficiency: Adobe Illustrator, Type 3, and MasterCAM

7. Carveco design software understanding and experience desired

8. Solidworks proficiency is helpful

9. Exposure to equipment such as Fanuc wireEDM, Centroid CNC high speed spindle

10. Fanuc Control familiarity

11. Coining die design

12. Able to determine tooling and operation requirements for all coining dies 13. Exceptional interpersonal skills including positive attitude, self-motivator, contributes to a team environment and personal accountability

14. Builds strong relationships

15. Self-motivated

16. Microsoft or Mac
 

Experience & Education:

1. Technical related certificates in manufacturing design or CAD preferred

2. Certification in tool design

3. 3-5 years work related experience

4. CNC production equipment exposure and operations

Essential Functions/Working Conditions:

1. Office and Hands-on within a Production Facility

Schedule: Onsite Monday - Friday (Typically 6:00am - 2:30pm)
