About the Role
BP Adult Climbing Instructors are responsible for bringing the industry’s most unique, accessible, and innovative climbing instruction experience to life. They are responsible for providing unparalleled levels of customer service, engagement, and connection as they introduce people to and support them on their lifelong journey with climbing in a way that is healthy, sustainable, fulfilling, and fun.
What You’ll Do
- Represent and live BP’s values - driving instruction with these in mind and performing whatever task necessary to create an experience in line with these valuesÂ
- Be in constant pursuit of better understanding climbers through dedicated empathy and a desire to connect with individualsÂ
- Create and manage an unparalleled climbing experience by bringing BP’s circuits to life in a way that best exemplifies their benefits while being an advocate for BP’s circuit system and celebrating it in all that you doÂ
- Foster community amongst participantsÂ
- Show up on time, be present, and exist in the right mindset for the program you are facilitatingÂ
- Display confidence in taking leadership enforcing safety protocolÂ
- Maintain calm and composure in the midst of high stress scenariosÂ
- Work collaboratively with fellow instructors and Programs Leads to develop and implement climbing and training curriculumÂ
- Think critically about program logistics - ensuring the best experience for BP guests and promoting the growth of the programÂ
- Regularly manage groups of adults of varying experience levels and curate excellent learning environments in a busy climbing environmentÂ
- Collaborate with local and Support team leadership to meet the needs of the local community and further develop the local and global BP Adult Climbing Instruction ProgramÂ
- Maintain an excellent relationship with the General Manager, Head Routesetter, and Program Lead - providing feedback and taking direction when necessaryÂ
- Maintain a climbing instruction product that meets the standards and expectations of the General Manager and Program Lead - tracking and reporting on these metrics as requestedÂ
- Design and maintain high standards for a clean, professional appearance and presentation of selfÂ
- Spend adequate time interacting with the local community in order to gather feedback and assess the impact of the work being performed.Â
- Stay up to date with the latest climbing training methodologies and maintain an active curiosity about the climbing industry and innovation
Requirements
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
- Climbing experience significantly higher than the level of instruction being performed is requiredÂ
- Good communication skills and the ability to provide, receive and implement feedback
- Desire to continually work to improve own climbing, instructing, and interpersonal skillsÂ
- Passion for climbing and community developmentÂ
- Ability to move 50lbs on soft flooringÂ
- Must be able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience instructing or coaching climbing in a professional environment preferred

- This is an hourly, part-time position. $16-$19hr
