JOB SUMMARY

The Student Life Associate, focusing on grades 6-12 with a primary emphasis on middle school, works in collaboration with the Director of Student Life and reports to the Middle School Assistant Principal. The role designs, coordinates and oversees a comprehensive student life program in the middle school that nurtures students’ social, emotional and spiritual growth at EC. This includes managing student programs, Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) athletics, clubs and activities and providing support for the Mentor program (advisory) and school-sponsored social gatherings. This is an extended day contract position, beginning in August for the 2026-27 school year. 


Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as a curator of positive culture at Eastside Catholic School
  • Support student’s development and well-being in the 6-12 experience while embodying the EC Mission and Touchstones
  • Design, coordinate and implement programming that reflects middle school developmental needs and promotes belonging, responsibility and positive school culture. This includes:

      -  Middle School Leadership Program

      - Middle School community building Mentor lessons 

  • Middle school programming, clubs and extracurriculars

      - The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) middle school athletics program, including marketing, managing teams and coaches, scheduling and acting as the EC on-site supervisor for game days

      - Middle field trips and grade-level projects and/or events: 

            * Sixth grade outdoor education overnight camp in the spring

            * Silver Kite Intergenerational Project (SKIP)

            * Supporting Campus Ministry with grade-level retreats

            * Organize and plan eighth grade end-of-year Promotion Ceremony

            * Supervise middle school break and lunch and create after-lunch activity programming for students such as play time, games and club meetings

                     ~ Support and lead middle school clubs during lunch, EC3 and tutorial

  • School-wide support to the Director of Student Life:

     - Support ASB leadership activities and the high school leadership program, including planning and teaching leadership curriculum and assisting in ASB events and activities

     - Assist with student orientation programming

     - Plan and organize assemblies and grade-level or school-wide events

  • Serve as a middle school mentor and work with that grade-level team to teach character education lessons, provide support to students and attend grade-level specific activities as their mentor teacher 
  • Collaborate with EC academic directors, including Campus Ministry and Equity and Social Action on middle school programming and events
  • Attend field trips and/or overnight retreats and trips when necessary
  • Attend middle school socials and dance(s)
  • Communicate with students and families about Student Life events and other relevant information, as needed
  • Coordinate with the Business Office regarding invoices and budgets, and parent groups about event planning and volunteers
  • Be present and visible throughout the school day to foster a sense of community and promote EC values to inspire and connect with middle school and high school student
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by role supervisor or school administration 

Requirements

  • Collaborative and fosters the spirit of teamwork and rapport with students, advisors, faculty, staff and administration to build upon the school culture
  • Classroom teaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.  Ability to teach lessons, lead student group activities, and collaborate with teachers on leadership curriculum and planning
  • Demonstrated experience working with middle school students in schools, camps, youth programs, or related settings. 
  • Strong organization skills, time management and independent work-related skills to ensure effective execution of events
  • Demonstrated experience working with parents and families in support of the overall student experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including being able to emcee at middle school and all-school assemblies and present to large groups 
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency – Excel, Word, PowerPoint; database record-keeping, and ability to confidently learn new technology
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including zero period and/or evenings/weekends based on position responsibilities
  • A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and belonging
  • Bachelor's degree required; education or a leadership-related field preferred
