Position
SAS is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Finance Department as a Cost Accountant. This position is responsible for analyzing and managing manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, and operational performance across production, warehouse, and retail operations. This role will provide visibility into cost drivers, variances, and inefficiencies to support decision-making and improve profitability.Â
 Job Responsibilities
Costing & Manufacturing Analysis
- Analyze cost of manufactured goods, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Maintain and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and cost components.
- Perform and review standard cost updates and cost rolls.
- Monitor and analyze work-in-process (WIP) and production flows.
Variance Analysis
- Analyze and explain cost variances, including:
- Material price and usage variances
- Labor and efficiency variances
- Production and yield variances
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Inventory & Reconciliation
- Reconcile production output vs. warehouse receipts (daily, weekly, period-end).
- Reconcile inventory across:
- Production systems
- ERP / POS (Shopify / RPro)
- Warehouse and retail
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure timely resolution.
 Operational Support
- Partner with operations, purchasing, and supply chain to:
- Improve cost accuracy
- Reduce rework and inefficiencies
- Validate production processes
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and operational risks.
Controls & Process Improvement
- Strengthen inventory and cost controls across all locations.
- Monitor inventory adjustments, shrinkage, and rework costs.
- Recommend process improvements to reduce errors and inefficiencies.
Reporting
- Prepare and analyze:
- Inventory valuation reports
- Cost and variance reports
- Trends and key performance indicators
- Support month-end close and audit requirements.
Job QualificationsÂ
- Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, inventory control principles, and ERP systems.
- Experience working with large databases.
- Exceptional attention to detail; high level of accuracy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to engage with management to exchange information, influence and persuade
- Proficient skills required in solid problem-solving, analytics, planning, organization, time management, and analysis
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics D365/ERP a plus but not required
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional team(s) in a fast-paced, high volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to maintain confidential information and ability to work with deadlines
- Flexible, strategic team player with infallible integrity and ethical standards
- Strives for high performance and uses technical skills effectively with a demonstrated emphasis to detail and accuracy. Ability to multi-task, and work in an organized, detailed manner under limited time frames & tight deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift 20 lbs
- Must be able to sit or stand for 8 – 10 hours.
- Manual dexterity and coordinationÂ
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.Â
- Two to five years of Cost Accounting.
- Experience with D365/ERP systems a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookups, etc.)Â
