Aircraft Electrical & Avionics Technician

Ability to Obtain Secret Clearance

Responsibilities:

  • Perform connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring
  • Route and secure wire harnesses and cable assemblies per routing instructions and technical specifications
  • Conduct sealing, wrapping, bonding, and tying operations on wire harnesses per standard aerospace processes
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, technical orders, retrofit requirements, and specifications to perform aircraft electrical modifications and repairs
  • Utilize tooling assemblies and fixtures to support depot-level electrical repair and installation
  • Conduct installation, inspection, and operational checks of electrical systems, wire bundles, and aircraft electrical assemblies
  • Troubleshoot electrical and comm/nav systems at both organizational and depot maintenance levels
  • Follow standard work instructions, wiring diagrams, and verbal/electronic orders to execute electrical tasks
  • Operate powered elevating platforms and support equipment in accordance with safety procedures
  • Maintain necessary certifications, permits, and licenses required for the role
  • Handle and coordinate materials, tools, and hazardous materials per safety and handling protocols
  • Perform all duties of lower-level electrical classifications as needed to complete tasks

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience: 10+ years of experience in aircraft electrical systems, avionics, and schematic interpretation
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical/electronic theory, shop mathematics, and aerospace electrical practices
  • Hands-on experience with component and wire installation, troubleshooting, and fabrication of new wire bundles
  • Proven ability to route and install wiring on aircraft without pre-existing installations (commercial routing experience preferred)
  • Documentation Skills: Proficient in reading schematics, blueprints, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures
  • Shift Flexibility: Willingness and ability to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime
  • Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 35 lbs
  • Exposure to elevated platforms, noise, and metal contact
  • Capable of frequent standing, walking, reaching overhead, and climbing ladders
  • Occasional squatting, crawling, stooping, and two-person lifts (for loads >50 lbs)
  • Must pass visual acuity and color perception tests
  • Use of personal protective equipment as required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all training certifications necessary for assigned duties

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Avionics systems
  • Background in Depot-Level Maintenance/Modification
  • Ability to operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and elevating equipment
  • FAA Airframe and/or Power Plant Certification (preferred, not required)
