Job Summary:

The R&D Intern will support the development and optimization of XPEL’s polymer-based product portfolio, including paint protection films (PPF), window films, coatings, and adhesive systems. The intern will work under the guidance of senior technical staff to conduct laboratory experiments, generate analytical data, and assist in scaling early-stage concepts toward manufacturing processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in laboratory experiments involving polymer films, coatings, and adhesives.
  • Prepare samples, run tests, and collect data using tools such as DSC, FTIR, optical microscopy, and mechanical/thermal analysis equipment.
  • Support small-scale formulation, mixing, and coating trials under supervision.
  • Record and organize experimental results, maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
  • Assist with basic data analysis, including DOE-related tasks as guided by senior staff.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings with quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to understand project requirements.
  • Contribute to literature searches, benchmarking, and general lab upkeep.

Requirements

  • Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; willingness to learn new tools and methodologies.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience preferred (coursework or prior internships).
  • Ability to work in a team, follow detailed procedures, and communicate clearly.
  • Availability for on-site work.
