​​Bookkeeper
 Responsible for supporting program invoicing and contract compliance. This role tracks and codes invoices for payment processing, maintains accurate financial and contract-related records, and serves as a key point of contact for routine contractual and administrative coordination. The position works closely with the Contracts Department and internal stakeholders to support compliance with contract requirements, internal policies, and applicable laws. The role also supports onboarding compliance activities, including employment verifications and required background checks.Â

​​Bookkeeper/Accountant​ Responsibilities Include: Â
Â
Act as a focal point for contractual and program administrative communicationsÂ
Handle invoice tracking and coding for payment processing; coordinate with internal teams to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely submission/approvalÂ
Assist in the monitoring of contract performance through progress reports and analysis of contractor metrics for compliance with performance standards, applicable laws, delivery schedules, payment provisions, inspections, progress reports, and other contract requirementsÂ
Ensure contract provisions and related documentation are aligned with internal policies and requirementsÂ
Coordinate review and preparation with outside legal counsel when necessaryÂ
 Assist department leads and executives with contract interpretations and issue resolution as neededÂ
 Make employment verification calls for new applicants and document verification results per internal processÂ
 Handle required background checks to remain contract compliant; track status, maintain records, and escalate issues or delays as neededÂ
 Confident in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities; able to multi-task and manage expectationsÂ
 Participate in making decisions regarding contract content, as assignedÂ
 Assist on special projects as assignedÂ
 Perform other job-related duties as assignedÂ

Bookkeeper/Accountant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
Â
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required, or 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experienceÂ
• Detail-oriented self-starter with strong oral and written communication skills; able to work with minimal supervisionÂ
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and ExcelÂ
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and judgment skillsÂ
• Able to manage multiple priorities concurrently and prioritize based on internal customer needsÂ
• Maintains a high level of professionalism, confidence, and integrity when working with internal and external customersÂ
• Negotiation and diplomacy skills when coordinating with external contactsÂ
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee FederalÂ
