GiaCare is now accepting applications for a full-time Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic to support military training operations at Joint Base San Antonio-Camp Bullis.

The EMT-Paramedic will provide onsite medical support during physical training, field exercises, and other high-risk military training activities. The selected candidate will assess and treat injuries and illnesses, provide advanced life support care, and work alongside medical and human performance professionals to support the health and safety of military students.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited NREMT paramedic program
  • Minimum of one year of experience within the last two years as an EMT, NREMT, NRAEMT, or NRP
  • Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Paramedic registration or current State of Texas paramedic-level registration
  • Tactical Combat Casualty Care certification
  • Basic Life Support certification, or ability to obtain during the onboarding process
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification, or ability to obtain during the onboarding process
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification, or ability to obtain during the onboarding process
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to walk and work across rough, rocky, or uneven terrain
  • Ability to perform the physical duties associated with emergency response and patient movement

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide EMT-Paramedic services throughout the supported training area
  • Assess injured or ill students and determine the appropriate course of treatment
  • Provide advanced life support care in accordance with applicable USAF and Army prehospital protocols
  • Respond to physical trauma, heat-related illness, cold-related injury, and other medical emergencies
  • Conduct medical triage in coordination with tactical athletic coaches
  • Provide medical coverage for physical training, field exercises, and high-risk training events
  • Stabilize patients and activate the emergency medical system when necessary
  • Administer oxygen, intravenous therapy, dressings, and other appropriate emergency treatments
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, transports, rehabilitation, and medical releases
  • Review student medical records and assist with medical screening and clearance
  • Provide education regarding injury prevention and heat- and cold-related illnesses
  • Teach Tactical Combat Casualty Care-Combat Lifesaver curriculum in accordance with applicable Department of Defense guidelines
  • Inspect, clean, disinfect, and restock assigned medical vehicles, equipment, and supplies

Schedule

  • Full-time, up to 40 hours per week
  • Monday through Friday
  • Duty hours may vary based on training schedules and mission requirements
  • No on-call requirement
  • No overtime
