Job Brief:
The Instrument Apprentice field technician will work with and learn from Instrument Journeyman and other apprentices. Â The Apprentice will be shown practical skills and learn to test, calibrate, install, repair, and inspect manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learns to read and understand P&ID drawings.
- Assists with Installing process control and measurement instrumentation on existing and new field equipment and processes (transmitters, controllers, analyzers, control valves, etc.).Â
- Performs mechanical work associated with instrument repair and modification; removes and installs small piping and tubing.
- Rebuilds control valves and tune controllers.
- Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation (calibration, replacement and tests as required); maintains field instrument records and standards.
- Uses pressure and/or electrical test equipment to troubleshoot systems.Â
- Installs and repairs chemical pumps.
- Participates/complies with company safety programs & company policies.
- Provides on-call support as required.Â
- Other duties as required.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Registered Apprentice preferred.
- High school diploma.
- OSHA 30 and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
- Experience in oil and gas is an asset.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
- Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
