Job DetailsJob Location: REEP Corporate - San Antonio, TX 78216Multifamily Property Accountant Assistant REEP Residential San Antonio, Texas Full-Time | Salary | In-Office  Position Overview  The Property Accountant Assistant is responsible for assisting with the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily communities and related ownership entities. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, supports month-end close processes, and verifies the data for financial insight to support operational and strategic decision-making.  The Property Accountant Assistant works closely with the Assistant Controller to maintain compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal financial controls across multiple entities.    Key Responsibilities  Financial Reporting  Prepare the data needed to review monthly financial statements for assigned multifamily properties and ownership entities  Assist with analyzing income statements, balance sheets, and supporting schedules  Assist with performing variance analysis and provide explanations for fluctuations in revenue and expenses    General Ledger & Month-End Close  Record and post journal entries including accruals, adjustments, and reclassifications  Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations  Reconcile subledgers to the general ledger  Assist with timely completion of month-end close for multiple entities and properties  Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for all financial transactions    Multi-Entity Accounting  Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records across multiple ownership entities and property portfolios  Allocate expenses and shared costs appropriately across properties and entities  Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations  Assist with proper entity-level financial reporting and documentation    Compliance & Internal Controls  Assist with maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting and expense approvals  Support external audits, lender reporting, and ownership reporting requirements  Maintain documentation for financial records and transactions    Cross-Functional Collaboration  Work closely with property management teams to ensure accurate financial reporting  Assist with providing guidance on expense coding, financial processes, and budget adherence  Support leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests    Process Improvement  Participate in accounting system enhancements and workflow improvements  Assist in implementing best practices across accounting and reporting functions  -  Reporting Structure  Reports to: Director of Finance and Assistant Controller Qualifications      Core Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred  At least 1 year of assisting in full cycle accounting experience preferably, but will train a candidate with a strong understanding of general ledger analysis and financial reporting statements.  Strong understanding of financial reporting.    Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting practices  Experience with property management and accounting platforms such as ResMan, AvidXchange (Avid), Yardi, AppFolio, or similar systems preferred  Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel  High attention to detail and strong organizational skills  Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines  Opportunity to develop into a Property Accountant role based on performance and business needs.    Work Environment  This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, calculators, and financial software systems.    Physical Requirements  This position is primarily sedentary and performed in a professional office environment.
