SUMMARY OF POSITION As the Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of one of Clean Scapes' growing service departments in San Antonio, ensuring exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and team performance across a portfolio of commercial properties. This role combines operations leadership, scheduling, project coordination, client communication, and team development. Success requires more than managing from an office. The right leader enjoys solving problems, building relationships, developing people, and improving systems while partnering closely with field teams to deliver exceptional service. While experience in this specific trade is certainly valuable, we're equally interested in exceptional operators who have successfully led teams, managed projects, and enjoy learning technical businesses. We'll teach the right person the technical side of the department. ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES Department Leadership Lead the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring projects, repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to Clean Scapes' high standard of quality. Establish priorities, improve operational efficiency, and ensure the department consistently delivers exceptional service. Partner with leadership to support the continued growth and success of the department. Team Development Recruit, train, mentor, and hold accountable field technicians and administrative staff. Foster a culture of teamwork, professionalism, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Develop team members through coaching, feedback, and leadership while creating opportunities for long-term growth. Hands-On Leadership Lead from the front by working alongside field teams when appropriate, building trust through action while reinforcing company standards and expectations. Support employees through real-time coaching, problem solving, and decision making. Scheduling & Logistics Coordinate department scheduling, inspections, repairs, installations, and service work while balancing customer priorities, technician availability, and operational efficiency. Ensure work is properly staffed, scheduled, and communicated across the department. Proposal Review & Customer Service Review proposals and recommendations to ensure accuracy, quality, and clear communication with customers. Develop strong customer relationships through proactive communication, problem-solving, and timely follow-through via phone, email, and in-person meetings. Partner with customers to deliver exceptional service and long-term relationships. Technical & Operational Oversight Learn and develop expertise in the department's technical services while partnering with experienced team members to ensure work is completed safely and effectively. Support field teams by removing obstacles, improving processes, and helping solve complex operational challenges. Ensure work consistently meets Clean Scapes' standards for quality and customer satisfaction. Safety & Compliance Ensure all department activities comply with company safety policies, licensing requirements, and industry best practices. Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety and accountability. Operational Improvement Support department initiatives, software adoption, reporting, and process improvements that increase efficiency while maintaining exceptional service quality. Continuously identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, communication, and overall department performance. QualificationsEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE Experience leading operations, field services, construction, facilities, logistics, landscaping, or another service-based business. Proven experience leading, developing, and holding teams accountable while fostering a positive, collaborative culture. Experience managing schedules, projects, customer relationships, and multiple priorities simultaneously. Strong operational mindset with a passion for building systems, improving processes, and solving problems. Experience in irrigation or another technical trade is certainly valuable, but not required. We're willing to teach the technical side of the business to the right operational leader. While a degree is impressive, we recognize that what's on paper doesn't define you. Many of us have honed our craft through experience rather than school. We'll consider both as a foundation of talent. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, + ABILITIES Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting relationships with customers and team members. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with experience managing multiple priorities simultaneously. High attention to detail and commitment to delivering exceptional quality. Comfortable using spreadsheets, scheduling software, and business systems to support operations, reporting, proposals, and planning. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions both in the office and in the field. A proactive, operationally minded leader who enjoys building systems, solving problems, and improving processes. A service-oriented leader who enjoys developing people, supporting the team wherever needed, and helping build a strong culture. Experience with commercial irrigation or another technical field is a plus, but not required for the right candidate. COMPENSATION We value the longevity of our employees and offer a competitive compensation plan. Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, in-person, W2 employee position with significant opportunity to grow into senior operational leadership as the department continues to expand.
