Under limited supervision, responsible for providing phlebotomy services for the phlebotomy team. Mentors, trains, and leads lower level Phlebotomists.

Schedule: This position requires flexibility to work between 7:00am-6:00pm as needed. 

Must be available to cover at different locations/clinics as needed. Ideal candidates must have reliable transportation in case they're needed at a different clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Properly identifies patient according to policy, draws blood samples, labels specimens and sends to laboratory for analysis.
  • Maintains records of tests performed and samples taken.
  • Generates patient collection lists and labels, ensures the correct test are collected, verifying collection of all specimens, and label appropriately.
  • Correctly processes specimens to include centrifugation, aliquoting, and labeling based on specimen requirements.
  • Inventories supplies, equipment and requisitions as needed.
  • Stocks workstation with necessary supplies.
  • Provides customer service to both patients and providers.
  • Provides in-service training and precepts Phlebotomists.
  • Participates in developing best practices in clinical work flows.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to provide compassionate care to patients.
  • Ability to apply standard safety and infection control procedures.
  • Ability to recognize emergencies and respond appropriately.
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented in documenting information while practicing good follow-through techniques.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret data or related information.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED is required.

 

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Certified Phlebotomist Technologist (CPT) certification is preferred.
